Ryan Connelly became interested in weather when Hurricane Floyd brought record flooding to the Delaware Valley in 1999. He used to bombard his family members with forecasts e-mailed to them before experimenting with his own weather forecasting website for a short time.
He currently attends Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana, where he is a rising junior in their Department of Meteorology. He storm chases areas within a day's drive with VUSIT, the Valparaiso University Storm Intercept Team. He also serves as Assistant Editor at the university's weekly newspaper, The Torch.
Ryan is most interested in operational meteorology, and hopes to pursue a career within the National Weather Service after graduate school. He loves snow most, but any type of weather keeps him interested. He presents educational posts, sometimes mixed with current weather in order to use what's happening now to teach about a concept.
