Rita Update -- NHC Likely Shifting Track East

It appears that the National Hurricane Center will shift their track eastward at the 11 AM advisory. Jennifer Pralgo was on the Glenn Beck show at 9:15 EDT and stated that the NHC is seriously looking at shifting the track eastward. Currently, Galveston and Houston are in the western eyewall, according to NHC projections. I would expect that 11 AM forecast brings the eye closer to an area between Port Artur and High Island.

Hurricane Warnings have been issued from Port O'Connor, TX to Morgan City, LA at 11AM EDT.

The ridge in the upper atmosphere which was originally supposed to keep Rita on a more westward path is not as strong as originally forecasted, and this weakness has led to a more northwestward track.
