Around the Weird World of Weather

First off, a ventriloquistic meteorologist? Say it ain't so. Dennis Bowman is one of a very rare breed -- a weatherman who brings his buddy 'Chester Drawers' (cue rim shot) into his discussions on weather at school. Bowman spent 31 years in front of a camera in various markets, including time in Pittsburgh at WPXI-TV. After 'retiring,' Bowman went back to Pittsburgh and spends his time speaking to schools and any organizations about weather.

It's almost, but not quite, as old-fashioned as Action News' famous weather board (seen below)

The continued 'dumb-down' of The Weather Channel continues. Comedian Lewis Black from Comedy Central will be doing segments on TWC as the first of a series of guest hosts who will talk about things weather-related (or so they hope). It's another sign that the 'harder' weather information that weather geeks and weenies crave is going the way of the dinosaur, with such fluff shows as 'Weekend View' occupying prime TWC viewing hours.
