Forecast Discussion: Is that snow in the forecast?
by Tom Thunstrom
....why, yes it is, if you live N of Philadelphia you have a chance of seeing some snow showers mixed in with some possible light rain tonight.
A round of showers and, for the western crowd, thunderstorms moved through the area last night between 9:30 and 10:30, dropping 1/10th to 1/2" of rain in the area. Not a huge event but it was rain that was much needed. Expect a drying trend today with a mix of clouds and sun throughout the area. A gusty west wind will keep things slightly cooler outside but by the time the day is over, we should see highs into the 50-55 range in Philadelphia, Delaware, and South Jersey with temperatures near 50 in the Lehigh Valley.
Tonight, a potent mid level low will swing through the area. The instability combined with residual moisture left over from this recent system will allow for rain for south of the Turnpike and 195 with a mix to all snow to the north of that line. A coating of snow is possible in the higher elevations north of Philadelphia. Temperatures tonight should range from near freezing in the Lehigh Valley to around 35 in Philadelphia.

Wednesday will be cooler than today, with temperatures between 45-48 in the Lehigh Valley and around 50-52 in Philadelphia with a mix of clouds and sun. We return to normal conditions on Thursday (near 60) with above normal weather back on Friday (65 or so) with a chance of showers back in the forecast for Philadelphia.

Showers will continue in the forecast for Saturday with drying and cooler weather (back into the 50's) on Sunday. A warmup next week is looking like a better bet as a ridge of high pressure looks to be setting up along the southeast coast. We could see a return to above normal conditions by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.
