Forecast Discussion: Opening Day Of Rain
The skies will be opening today and a good portion of our area will be seeing rain. Low pressure moving to our north and west will be weakening today and a secondary development moves up from the Chesapeake Bay region across South Jersey this evening. Places south and east of this secondary low pressure system will be in the 'warm sector' of the storm toady and will also be subjected to a slight risk of severe weather.

Showers are possible this morning but as the secondary low develops and moves NE heavier rain should break out and spread up and across our area late this afternoon, with the best chances after 4 PM. You may check "Tracking the Event" at any time today to watch a live update of the rain as it moves into the area.

The above map will update with severe thunderstorm and tornado watches throughout the day (map provided by the Storm Prediction Center).
Temperatures today will be varied based on location. Expect mid 50's in the Lehigh Valley today, temperatures between 58 and 63 in Philadelphia, and temperatures between 61 and 67 south and east of Philadelphia (in the warm sector). This is a conservative call temperature wise -- it may be warmer to the S & E of Philadelphia and possibly a touch cooler N & W as those areas are stuck in the marine layer.

Cardinals at Phillies, 3 PM, CBS 3/1210 AM
Bring the umbrella as rain is likely to impact periods of the game. Temperatures should be in the upper 50's for the first pitch.
The front will clear through the area overnight leading to a cooldown for Tuesday-Thursday before temperatures rebound this Friday. While that 75 I talked about yesterday may not verify, temperatures will warm nicely later this week.
