Bright Morning, Cloudy Afternoon

1 PM Update

Showers are moving in from west to east and one should see a few showers this afternoon. The fast flow aloft in the atmosphere is helping to speed these showers along towards us a bit earlier than forecast. Temperatures will not rise much higher than their current readings in the upper 50's and low 60's.

Temperatures to start Saturday will be cool, with 30's possible in the Lehigh Valley and 40's elsewhere. The coolest night of this young fall season will usher in a decent day with temperatures in the 60's and increasing clouds. Another frontal boundary will be moving towards us and the relatively quick movement of this next front will lead to rain falling tonight throughout the region. This rain move in from west to east overnight and it looks like about 1/3-2/3" of rain is possible regionwide, with the greatest amounts north and west. A few rumbles of thunder may accompany the rains, especially late tonight and early Sunday AM. Lows tonight will be in the 50's regionwide.

The front should pass through here by noon and with the winds switching around to the NW behind the front we could see some sun break out late in the afternoon on the downsloping flow. Highs on Sunday will be in the mid and upper 60's regionwide.

The early parts of next week look warmer and dry before another frontal passage on Wednesday. There is a slight chance of a shower with the front at this point as it moves through. The latter parts of the next week look dry again and temperatures around 70 on Thursday before warming next weekend as high pressure builds in overhead. After the weather of the last few days, I think we all gladly could take a break and get some dry and warm weather into the region.
