NBC 10 Winter Outlook

Issued By: Glenn Schwartz, November 22nd, 2006

NBC 10 lead meteorologist Glenn Schwartz issued his annual winter forecast on Tuesday, November 22nd. Glenn is calling for a colder-than-normal winter with above normal snowfall, with potentially 40" of snow possible.

One concern I have with the forecast, and he already addressed it, was the large snowfall range in his forecast. I feel that snowfall forecast ranges should not, as practice, be larger than 5 or 6" because it can lead to too many 'verified' calls for the winter especially if someone forecasts a ten or twelve inch range in snowfall.

Glenn addressed those concerns before I even took exception to that part of his forecast.

The main thoughts of the forecast from Glenn are below.
