Hurricane Schwartz Lowers Snow Forecast by 50%

Glenn Schwartz, NBC 10 Chief Meteorologist, has revised his winter forecast dramatically, lowering snow projections for the upcoming winter by 50%. His original winter forecast called for 30-40" of snow with temperatures averaging below normal in January and February. His revised call, made Thursday night, has adjusted those snow totals downward to 15-20" and has dramatically adjusted temperatures upward.

Glenn is now calling for temperatures in January to be three degrees above normal and now only two degrees below normal in February. I applaud his willingness to change and adjust his forecast based on what he is seeing (the positive NAO and the Pacific Ocean to name two factors) as I believe that this new forecast is a more reasonable indicator for what winter will bring.

Should he get credit for the revised forecast and graded on both the original and the revised? I think while it should be noted if his revised forecast turns out well, he should still be graded based on the original forecast. I don't think it would be fair to the others to grade based on their original body of work if I grade the revised body fairly as well. The original call will be what I grade off of but if he does nail the final revision I'll note it.
