Evaporated Threats Of Snow

Last night's cold front did not bring us the snowfall that everyone had forecast. While it was snowing in the atmosphere last night (if you were looking at radar you could , dry air at the surface was evaporating much of the snowfall before it reached the ground.

Precipitation started reaching the ground in the city between 10 and midnight thanks to the dry air aloft. The result of this dry air holding firm at the ground level was that our snow threat dwindled through the night while warm air continued to work in at the surface. Once precipitation reached the ground, temperatures at the surface and in the lower levels of the atmosphere was too warm to support snow around the region.

Snowfall did accumulate in some parts of the region, with Trenton getting 0.2" of snow and the Lehigh Valley Airport getting an inch of snow. The most snow fell in the Poconos, with 4.5" falling at Mount Pocono as of 6 AM.
