Gulf of Mexico Mesolow
Part of the storm complex that will impact us this weekend is taking shape across the Deep South. The interesting spin that you see on the radar loop up above is called a mesolow. A mesolow is a small scale low pressure center, usually in association or a part of a thunderstorm complex. Another example of one occurred over Lake Huron in the past and recently occurred over Lake Michigan.Typically in a squall line the potential for severe weather increases in the vicinity of a meslow.
The moisture from this storm system will be tracking up our way this weekend and while we will likely not see a mesolow around these parts we will see heavy rains.
