It Won't Take Much To Flood...

The Schuylkill River in Royersford is not far from its banks...as of this morning when those photos were taken the river was running about a foot short of the top of the banks. Since this morning, the river levels have lowered somewhat but the Schuylkill is still running quite high.
It's not going to take much to cause river and stream flooding with this weekend's storm. Montgomery County, PA needs 1.5" of rain in six hours to have flooding issues, with Bucks County needing just 1.2" of rain. The problem areas are across Central PA and across the Lehigh Valley and along the Delaware River, where needed rainfall over a six hour period is quite low. You can see that areas in South Jersey, Delaware, and the Delmarva need significantly more rainfall than what people to their west need. Those areas should have fewer problems handling rainfall from this storm than those in Pennsylvania, which model guidance is continuing to show as under the rainfall bullseye with this weekend's storm.Tags:
