April 13th and 14th, 2008 Forecast
**Will be on away on Sunday...Monday's forecast being issued on Saturday**
Today (Saturday): Temperatures will be mild and in the 68-74 range today as we see mostly clouds skies and the chance for a few showers and thunderstorms during the day. A cold front will move east today and could set off a few stronger storms across Delaware and South Jersey this afternoon. A slight risk of severe weather is out for Delaware for today because there is sufficient energy in the atmosphere to possibly get a severe storm but the chances for severe weather, I think will be low. Once the front crosses, winds will veer around and come in from the west, bringing in drier and eventually colder air.Tonight: Skies will be mostly cloudy and we will begin a cooling trend for the early part of next week. Temperatures will drop into the mid and upper 40's by morning in the region, which will be mild in comparison to our lows in a couple of days.
Sunday: An upper level low (the "core" of the large storm system that has brought us warmth and Friday night's storm activity) will move through the region and the instability from the upper level low, combined with some morning sunshine, will help fire off scattered afternoon showers. A thundershower is not out of the question as well with tomorrow's precipitation. It will be cooler with highs in the mid 50's north and west of I-95 and mid to upper 50's south and east.
Sunday Night: The weather cools further as we see temperatures drop into the low to mid 30's by morning. Any shower activity should end around sunset for much of the region and possibly by midnight north of the city where there are better dynamics. It is not out of the realm of possibility for someone in the Poconos to see some snow mixing with their rain showers Sunday night.
Monday: Morning sun will give way to afternoon clouds as we are still under the influence of the upper level trough and its instability. We could see a couple of showers but I think the region should be more dry than showery. Winds will move to the north as high pressure begins to exert its influence on the weather and we will see temperatures another notch lower, this time between 49 and 53.
We'll see temperatures moderate as the influence of the upper trough begins to wane as we move through the week and a ridge of high pressure builds over the top of the region after Wednesday. Temperatures will range from below normal to start to above normal by the end of the week, with much of the week being dry. A low will develop out in the Atlantic and linger offshore about 200-300 miles of the US mainland but at this point we should not see any effects from that low.Tags:
