April 9th, 2008 Forecast
Now: Some clouds are holding over Eastern PA but a solid zone of clearing has worked its way down the coastline in New Jersey, with some sunshine reported generally east of 295 and the NJ Turnpike from 195 on north. Clearing is also taking place across Central and Northeast PA. Temperatures are in the mid and upper 40's along the coast, the mid 50's along I-95, and close to 60 across Eastern Pennsylvania.Tonight: It will be another mostly cloudy night as this deck of low stratus clouds wants to hold firm, especially across South Jersey and Delaware where little in the way of sunshine has been reported in the last couple of days. There might be some breaks in the overcast north of Philadelphia throughout tonight as more dry air has worked its way to the surface. Temperatures will be about the same as last night with lows around 40.
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy to cloudy skies in the morning will give way to a mix of clouds and sunshine from the late morning on. With winds finally veering around to the south tomorrow we should see temperatures warm up a bit, with highs in the 60's from I-295 and the NJ Turnpike on west. East of there temperatures will hold in the 50's.Clouds will re-increase Wednesday night in advance of a weak cool front that will move through late. A chance of showers is possible with the front as it crosses through.
As of now Thursday is shaping up as the real warm day of the forthcoming week as we should see west winds downsloping off of the Appalachians after the frontal boundary passes through. Due to the lack of cold air after the frontal passage temperatures will warm and I think we should see a predominately sunny afternoon. Temperatures should hit 70 for just about everyone and if everything breaks just right a couple of optimistic thermometers could hit 75.The weather begins to go downhill slowly on Friday as clouds move in with a warm front from a strong storm system that will develop across the Plains late this week. The warm front should cross Philadelphia late Friday afternoon, allowing us a chance to warm into the 60's in the city before nightfall but it is completely possible that much of Friday is in the 50's with an east or southeast wind off of the Atlantic. Temperatures will stay warm Friday night (near 60) and then we'll see a cold frontal passage on Saturday with plenty of showers and storms possible.
