Cool Weather About To Depart

Friday's high temperature of 70 degrees was the warmest temperature in Philadelphia since last Saturday's 73 degree high. Even though bright sunshine brought us the warmest temperatures in nearly a week, we have continued our streak of below average temperatures to eight straight days and 14 of the last 15 days. This is the longest such cool streak of weather in May since 2005, where temperatures were below average eight days in a row as well. The longest streak in recent memory of below average temperatures was in 2003, where 17 consecutive days had temperatures below the seasonal averages.

The cool weather will abate this weekend as temperatures gradually warm and sunshine dominates our weather. While Saturday may end up just below average, we should get at least a couple of above average temperature days out of the coming holiday weekend, a taste of summer that is long overdue.
