May 22nd, 2008 Forecast

Now: A line of showers and storms runs along I-81 and is moving east. This will move through the Philadelphia and suburbs over the next few hours and will bring a brief period of the showers. Other scattered showers lie throughout the region to the east of this line.

Tonight: This line of showers will weaken as daytime heating wanes, especially after sunset. Temperatures will be cool again tonight with lows ranging from 46 to 50 under mostly cloudy skies.
Thursday: Persistence is the word and we will see another chilly day by May standards with mostly cloudy skies, a cool breeze from the north and northwest, and some scattered afternoon showers. The upper trough will move out of our picture Thursday night, bringing improving weather for Friday and the weekend, but until we get to that point we have to suffer with Thursday's repeat of the last few days. Temperatures will range from 58 along the coast and north of the city to the low to mid 60's in the Philadelphia region. Winds will be from the north and northwest at 10 to 20 mph, possibly at times in shower activity.
The pattern will be a changing starting on Friday and continuing through the weekend, with temperatures warming each day under sunny skies and high pressure that will move southeast from Michigan into the Carolinas. This movement of the high will put us in a position to warm up significantly for Monday, with temperatures getting into the mid 80's, possibly warmer, with another run past 85 likely on Tuesday. A cold front will nudge the ridge of high pressure slightly to our south, allowing for temperatures to return to normal on Wednesday of next week.
