July 22nd, 2008 Forecast
Going into this evening, we'll see a mix of sun and clouds and a breezy evening with temperatures generally in the upper 80's to around 90 in much of the region except the Shore. It is not as hot as recent days thanks to a weak front pushing through last night. Philly did hit 90 again today for the 6th straight day but we ended our 95+ streak at four.Tonight: Skies should remain partly cloudy and should remain dry for much of the night. A storm complex in the Ohio Valley moves east and helps initiate new thunderstorms to our west later this evening. Should those storms hold together through the night there's a chance we see some storms in Central and Eastern PA in the late night/early morning hours. Temperatures will drop into the upper 60's and low 70's for much of the region tonight.
Tuesday: Any storms that do survive the trip across PA will be in the Delaware Valley in the morning, ending before noon. Sunshine will be mixed in with partly to mostly cloudy skies. With the increase in cloud cover compared to Monday, temperatures may not hit 90 from Philadelphia on west but could have a slightly better chance across Delaware and Interior South Jersey of hitting 90 degrees. Clouds will increase late in the afternoon as a frontal boundary and disturbance move into the region.
This disturbance will likely bring showers and thunderstorms to the region Tuesday night through Wednesday night, with the potential for over an inch of rain in some areas from the upcoming round of thunderstorms. The frontal boundary will nudge off of the court on Thursday, with improving conditions expected later in the day. Friday should be the nicest day weather-wise this week as a whole although it will be warm.Cristobal moving away, strengthening: Tropical Storm Cristobal has 65 mph winds as of 11 AM this morning and is moving northeast, away from the Carolinas. Cristobal is not a threat to the US but might graze Nova Scotia in a couple of days time. You can check out satellite and forecast track data on Cristobal anytime.
Dolly moving in on Brownsville: Tropical Storm Dolly is organizing itself in the southern Gulf of Mexico after crossing the northeastern tip of the Yucatan last night, bringing rain to the Mayan Riviera.
Kathy Orr named one of the "Best of Philly": Michael Klein in the Inquirer reports that CBS 3's Kathy Orr has been selected "Best TV Weatherperson" in Philadelphia Magazine's 2008 Best of Philly.
