August 25th, 2008 Forecast
A rather nice Sunday is going to give way to a pretty nice Monday. A frontal boundary will move through the region and provide a chance for a few showers but an all-day washout is not likely.Tonight: Skies will be partly to at worst mostly cloudy. As the front moves into Pennsylvania tonight, showers will move east across the state and some areas will see some showers after midnight, mainly north of the city. A chance of showers cannot be ruled out for Philadelphia proper, however, late tonight. Low temperatures will generally be in the middle and upper 60's.
Monday: Scattered showers north of the city in the morning will give way to a chance for scattered afternoon showers or thunderstorms from Philadelphia on south and east. While precipitation does not look overtly widespread it is possible some people will get rained on during their afternoon commutes. High temperatures will be in the lower and middle 80's.
Cooler weather will spread south Monday night, setting up a tranquil middle of the week with high temperatures in the 77-83 range area-wide for Tuesday and Wednesday under mainly sunny skies. The leftovers from Tropical Storm Fay will move into the region later this week as they get entrained ahead of a frontal boundary that will move into the region late Thursday and Friday. The front will linger into Saturday before clearing the coast, leaving a mostly sunny Sunday and Labor Day.Fay Update: Fay has been downgraded to a Tropical Depression and is moving west-northwest through the Deep South. Fay has brought up to two feet of rain in parts of Florida and nearly six inches of rain across Alabama. Twelve deaths in the United States were attributed to Fay, with thousands of homes inundated by floodwaters as Fay slowly zagged across the Florida peninsula.
There are two other tropical disturbances being monitored for development. One is located in the Eastern Caribbean, just north of Venezuela, and a second is located in the Central Atlantic and will likely miss the East Coast altogether.
