The Next "Chance" of Rain
A weak frontal boundary will provide us a chance of showers and maybe a thunderstorm late tonight and tomorrow. Given that the boundary has weakened a fair bit since yesterday afternoon and the trend suggests a continued weakening as it tracks east across the eastern Great Lakes and into Pennsylvania, the "chance" of rain that is associated with this frontal boundary is somewhat low.
Showers should develop this afternoon along the front in eastern Ohio and track east overnight across the northern half of the state. As the frontal boundary crosses the Delaware Valley on Monday, scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm will accompany the frontal passage during the early afternoon. In terms of model guidance, the GFS is slightly more aggressive with the frontal boundary precipitation while the NAM confines most of the precipitation to the Lehigh Valley and points north, along with farther south of our region where showers fire up tomorrow afternoon across Maryland and the lower Delmarva.
It appears that rainfall should not be widespread and rainfall amounts will be low, continuing the dry spell which has flared back up in recent weeks. Fay's remnant moisture may provide some relief late this week as that gets pulled northeast.
