Ike Closing On In, People Acting Like Idiots

Yes, Geraldo, Ike means business.

Hurricane Ike with 105 mph winds is less than 200 miles from the Galveston coastline at 2 PM ET. Its west-northwest movement towards the coast means a landfall just after midnight CDT near Galveston Bay, which would result in a nasty storm surge for much of East Texas and Louisiana tonight.

Sadly, there are too many people staying behind despite the delayed call to evacuate. Some are choosing to ride the storm out in a bar, hoping for the best.

Ike is looking more organized compared to yesterday, yet hasn't explosively deepened because in part to the large size of the storm, in part to some modest wind shear as well. Regardless, Ike at 105 mph is still formidable and will cause tremendous amounts of damage along the Upper Texas coastline late tonight.

Update, 3 PM: It doesn't get any dumber than this.
