September 13th and 14th, 2008 Forecast
A warm front located across the Ohio Valley will lift northeast tonight through the Mid Atlantic. Rain that has broken out along the front and is lifting east through our area will continue through the evening hours before tapering off during the night. Rainfall may be accompanied by a few rumbles of thunder as well in the heaviest of showers.Once the warm front lifts north we should see an increase in sunshine and temperatures on Saturday. While Saturday may feature a fair amount of cloud cover at times and may feature a few showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon, the majority of the region should be dry.
Sunday will be the hot and very humid day this weekend. We will see a Bermuda high nudge northward and the influence of Hurricane Ike tracking through the Midwest will push the subtropical ridge a bit more northward, bringing additional heat and humidity our way. Assuming that we get a fair amount of sunshine, temperatures on Sunday should hit 90 in the city and come very close to that elsewhere.
Most computer guidance is taking the center of Ike's remnant low to our west along a cold front that will cross our area Monday afternoon. Ike's remnants will bring a chance for tropical showers or thunderstorms on Monday afternoon but this looks to be a scattered event at this point and far from certain. Temperatures will cool off in the middle of the week as high pressure builds in behind Ike and the cold front.Tags:
