September 27th and 28th, 2008 Forecast

A messy weekend is in store with not a substantial amount of sunshine and the potential for off-and-on showers throughout the weekend. Low pressure over the Carolinas is moving north slowly, weakening as it does so. Tropical Storm Kyle continues to push northward and will affect New England on Sunday and our weather will improve as Kyle moves past us to our east.

Showers will be intermittent (it's my buzzword of choice lately) for a good portion of the weekend but will we should not see an all-day or all-weekend rain event. With a northeast to east wind at the surface we'll continue to sit in the morass and malaise of drear through tonight and Saturday. Showers will be most numerous east of the city and less numerous west due to the moist flow from the Atlantic and presence of a wave of energy riding along the coast.

On Sunday, with Kyle moving by 200-300 miles to our east, we will see a northwest wind develop and some drying take place as the day progresses. However, some showers and thunderstorms are possible during the day but in a less widespread fashion.

Temperatures will be moderating through the weekend, with low to mid 70's expected on Saturday and mid to upper 70's on Sunday for high temperatures. Low temperatures should be in the lower to middle 60's through the weekend in much of the area, with perhaps some upper 50's in the cooler environs farther north tonight and tomorrow night.
Coming This Weekend: Some musings about winter, a review of the past week's weather, and an update or two on Kyle and his impact on the East Coast's weather.
