Weather Rewind, September 21st-27th, 2008
A near record run of "warm season" temperatures was put to rest on Thursday when we only got to 66 degrees for a high. Before Thursday, we had gone 119 days with a high temperature of 70 or higher, a streak that was snapped with the clouds and raw east wind on Thursday. This was the fourth longest streak in Philadelphia history, a streak only topped by 1898, 1970, and 1991. The record, in case you cared, was 123 days in a streak that occurred between May 20th and September 19th, 1991.
The big story of the past week was in the coastal storm that developed on Wednesday off of the Carolina coastline, moving inland on Thursday and spreading clouds, wind, and rain up along the Atlantic coast Thursday night. While the Philadelphia area dodged the heavy rain bullet, up to 3" of rain fell along the Jersey coast and over 2" of rain fell in Delaware.
