January 10th and 11th, 2009 Forecast

A full discussion and forecast on Saturday's winter event will be available after 3:00 PM today.

After Saturday's storm departs the region, Sunday will set up to be a cold and blustery day with gusty northwest winds helping set the table for a Siberian Surge of cold air later next week. Temperatures on Sunday will be hard pressed to get much above freezing from the city and south/east, with temperatures likely holding in the 20's across the Lehigh Valley. With 15-20 mph winds during the day, wind chills in the teens look like a good bet. Temperatures Sunday night will drop into the teens outside of the city and to around 20 in Philadelphia itself. Any additional snowcover could result in lower temperatures, especially north and west of Philadelphia.

The Week Ahead: Cold, colder, and then even colder yet looks to be the way to describe the upcoming weather. Monday looks cold and features an increase in clouds later in the day. Tuesday will feature a period of snow showers as an arctic boundary works through during the day. Wednesday will be cold and windy with temperatures struggling to get much above 25 in Philadelphia. Another round of snow is possible on Thursday with a clipper scooting through before we dip down a little further for Friday, which may be shaping up as the coldest day of this upcoming cold snap.
