Dodging A Soggy Saturday

Yesterday's flooding storms are a thing of the past as the disturbance responsible for that mess has worked off the coast overnight. Today's weather is not as active from a meteorological standpoint although the chances for a few storms to pop up this afternoon is sufficient enough to mention.

Yesterday's storms impacted some areas significantly, with other areas getting next to no rainfall. Here is a radar estimate from NWS radar, via Wunderground, showing the hit or miss variety of rainfall across the Delaware Valley.

Areas from Newtown west to Warrington and southwest towards Fort Washington and Plymouth Meeting bore the brunt of yesterday's thunderstorms. Radar estimates of five inches of rain fell across this area, with the NWS weather station in Willow Grove (er, Horsham) reporting 3.78" of rain. Flooding was also reported in Burlington County (Medford Lakes area) and Chester County (Exton) due to heavy thunderstorms, with these areas seeing over two inches of rain in a short time.

Other places, such as Camden County (sinking air off of the storms to the north and northeast kept them clear) and areas closer to the Shore (thanks to the seabreeze down that way) saw next to no thunderstorm activity. Here's a full rundown on the thunderstorm impacts yesterday throughout the region along a full day recap of the Philadelphia area radar.
