Flash Flood Watches N & W Tonight

The potential for more heavy rain across parts of the area has lead to the issuance of a flash flood watch for tonight across the Lehigh Valley, Poconos, and Berks County, along with points to the west across Central PA.

The watches are until 8 AM in Central PA, 9 AM in the Poconos and Lehigh Valley.

With thunderstorms developing across Maryland and Virginia, moving northeast in tandem with a disturbance across Western PA, increased thunderstorm activity will take place across our region and the watch areas as we progress through the evening and through the night. Some areas within the watch could see two inches or more of rain. While not everyone will see such rainfall amounts, there is potential for localized ponding of water and localized flooding of streams in areas where thunderstorms dump the highest rainfall.

Thunderstorms will also impact Philadelphia and South Jersey tonight but the most numerous thunderstorm activity looks to be just to our northwest.
