Friday's Thunderstorm Primer

We're under a slight risk for severe weather today as a cold front moves east into the Delaware Valley, which is sitting in a humid and unstable airmass. Thunderstorms are possible at just about any time today, having already fired up across parts of Pennsylvania early this morning. However, thunderstorms should be most numerous from midday into the afternoon hours in Philadelphia. The threat from severe thunderstorms today is in the form of wind gusts and hail as any storms that do fire up will be purcalating into an atmosphere that is unstable and somewhat chilly aloft.

At the Shore, storms should be more common this afternoon and early this evening. Like us in Philadelphia, you are also under a slight risk for severe weather from any thunderstorms that impact areas down there.

Regarding temperatures, it may be a tall order to hit 90 degrees as storms are already firing up and clouds are in place. However, in those areas that can hold off from getting thunder until late in the day the chance is there for a rogue 90 or two to be reached. However, 80's look more reasonable for high temperatures, which is keeping our 90-less degree weather streak in tact.
