June 13th and 14th, 2009 Forecast

Our weather will improve this weekend compared to what we faced this morning. However, it won't be widespread perfection as will continue to face the prospect of afternoon thunderstorms both Saturday and Sunday, with Saturday now shaping up as the day with a better chance for thunderstorm activity.

Tonight: Any scattered thunderstorm activity from this evening should diminish after sunset, leaving a variably cloudy sky overnight. Unlike past nights, the development of a widespread bank of low clouds should not take place although some patchy fog can't be completely discounted. Low temperatures will drop into the lower to middle 60's across the area.

Saturday: The morning should feature a mix of sun and clouds, perhaps even mostly sunny, but will give way to scattered thunderstorms as a disturbance tracks through the area during the afternoon hours. Thunderstorms that do fire up could be slow moving as there is a lack of upper steering, perhaps even enhanced by any seabreeze boundary that develops and nudges inland during the day. However, it's possible not everyone gets thundered on but there is a chance but as it's summer predicting who does and who does not get hit is not an easy call. High temperatures will range from the mid 70's at the Shore to the low 80's inland.

Saturday Night: Storms die down during the evening and we go back to variably cloudy skies overnight. Low temperatures will be in the upper 50's in the Lehigh Valley to low 60's at the Shore and in Philadelphia.

Sunday: We rinse and repeat Saturday's forecast, although the threat for thunder will be reduced as the disturbance that moves through Saturday will be on its way out of the region, although its effects may help to trigger a couple of afternoon thunderstorms. However, these should be fewer in number than on Saturday. High temperatures range from the mid 70's at the Shore to around 80 inland.

Coming This Weekend: Phillies Gamecasts will update you on the weather at Citizens Bank Park for the weekend set against Boston, with an update on Saturday's storm potential coming in the morning.
