June 20th and 21st, 2009 Forecast
A less dreary (but not great) Friday greets the Philadelphia region as sun and clouds mixed for a time this morning but now high overcast is taking over. These clouds are blowing off of thunderstorm complexes in the Great Lakes and West Virginia. Those thunderstorm complexes will eventually track over us on Saturday, with some of them potentially strong or severe.Tonight: Friday evening's weather looks to be pretty decent other than the clouds in place. There is a chance for a late night thunderstorm to the west (and also southwest) of Philadelphia. Low temperatures will be in the mid and upper 60's across the region.
Saturday: It's not going to be a good start to the weekend as showers and occasional thunderstorms will impact the region, most numerous in the midday and early afternoon hours. Some of those storms may be severe with gusty winds and hail. High temperatures will be in the lower 80's away from the coast, in the lower 70's at the Shore.
Saturday Night: Showers and storms will wind down as the evening progresses, with skies remaining variably cloudy overnight. Low temperatures will be in the mid 60's.
Sunday: Another day of variably cloudy skies. The low pressure center responsible for Saturday's thunderstorms will work just off the coast and will throw some instability back our direction. This will result in the chance of afternoon and evening showers across the region, with a couple of rumbles of thunder certainly possible. High temperatures will range from 75-80 inland, low 70's at the Shore.
Coming Saturday AM: Extended forecast for next week.
