Morning Storms Leave Their Mark

Morning thunderstorms marched through the Delaware Valley between 6 and 9 AM, leaving their mark as frequent lightning, heavy rain, and hail up to nearly one inch fell across portions of the region. The radar loop up above captures the thunderstorms as they were moving across South Jersey during the 8:30-11:30 time frame, just after they did their worst work across the immediate city.

About 2000 lightning strikes were detected across the Delaware Valley between 6 and 9 AM, according to the National Weather Service. Thankfully, only scattered power outages occurred according to PECO reports in the Philly Inquirer.
