Slight Risk For Severe Weather Tuesday

With a frontal boundary working east into a warm and unstable airmass over our region the potential for strong and severe thunderstorms for Tuesday is decent. A slight risk for severe weather is out for much of the Delaware Valley, save the coastal sections of New Jersey.

The potential exists for damaging wind and hail within the strongest of storms. The Storm Prediction Center is hinting at the potential of supercell development as opposed to a line of thunderstorms moving through the region. Regardless of which happens, the potential for wind and hail exists.

Storms to our west could impact our region overnight tonight and early tomorrow morning, bringing a threat for some gusty winds and even some small hail. Some sunshine breaking out for the midday hours will help in the development of afternoon thunderstorms across the region. These storms look to be the nastier of the two rounds and could provide any weather headlines for the day.

The severe threat looks to be highest between 2 and 8 PM in the Philadelphia area.

I'll provide another update on Tuesday morning about the thunder threat for the afternoon hours.
