Weather Clip: Soggy Break In Dry Summer

The Summer of '88 was a dry one in the Philadelphia region and much of the country, as it was locked in heat and for many drought. The Summer of 1988 featured 49 days of 90 degree or higher heat in Philadelphia, the eighth warmest on record int the city.

Storms on July 21st dropped over three inches of rain in Philadelphia (3.45" to be exact), which was more rain than fell in the prior two months (going back to May 20th, 1988). KYW 3's coverage the morning of July 22nd, featured Pat Ciarrocchi's last newscast (at that time) in the morning slot before she moved to the 5:30 newscast the following Monday. Also, longtime Channel 3 personalty Gary Geers does a short weather segment early in the newscast after coverage of the heavy thunderstorms from the night prior along with a snip (and I mean brief) snip of those great 1980's weather graphics about 1:25 in on the below clip.
