December Starts On Mostly Sunny Note

Welcome to meteorological winter in Philadelphia -- December marks the beginning of the three coolest months on the calendar and temperatures today will be typical for the first day of meteorological winter around these parts.  We're starting off in the 30's across the region, ranging from 34 to 39 across the Delaware Valley -- and will likely top out in the upper 40's and lower 50's this afternoon.  Skies will generally be mostly sunny although a few more clouds are likely north of Philadelphia than south of the city later on today.   On the whole, there will be more sunshine than yesterday and we should also avoid a rogue shower or two unlike yesterday.

Philadelphia's projected high will be 51 with northwest breezes at 10-15 mph.  Those breezes could be gusty at times to over 20 mph into the midday hours before subsiding into the afternoon.  On the whole, a decent start to meteorological winter in the Delaware Valley.

Later this morning, we'll recap November 2011 and talk about how warm it was in all-time comparison for the region.
