Sunny Start Gives Way To More Clouds Later

It'll be a clear, chilled start getting out the door this morning -- temperatures are in the 20's throughout the region this morning under clear skies.  Wind chills are generally below 20 in most locations, with single digits in the Poconos.  It may not end up being the coldest morning of the winter so far (26 would set that standard...low so far is 28) but it is a wintry morning out there.  The clear skies we'll be facing this morning won't last though.   A deck of low and mid level clouds is to our west and will overspread the region through the course of the day.  Skies will transition towards cloudy after midday.  This deck of clouds is in association with "warmer" air aloft and is in advance of a clipper system (the first of two) that will zip on through New York State tonight.

The overrunning deck of clouds could spit out a few flurries or a light snow shower in spots this afternoon, especially the Poconos and Central Pennsylvania where moisture support is a notch higher.  Flurries or snow showers won't do much other than give a bit of wintry ambiance to the atmosphere.

The good news is winds will be much lighter today -- generally 6-12 mph on the whole, with a rogue gust to perhaps 20 mph in the Poconos this morning.  Large amounts of hair spray won't be needed today...just a coat as temperatures will only top out at around 40 in the city, 30's north, and low 40's south.
