February 1st, 2012 Forecast

While Philadelphia is experiencing near 60 degree weather, Central New York is dealing with the cleanup of this. If you're looking for snow, you can find it in Fulton, NY, just 10 miles south of SUNY Oswego where I study meteorology. Fulton received 32.5 inches of snow in 18 hours, from 8 PM Sunday evening through 2 PM Monday afternoon. Here in Oswego, only 8.2 inches. That's how challenging lake effect snow is to forecast.

Tonight: A mix of clouds and stars. A shower is possible after midnight. Lows will drop into the lower 40s. Winds will be out of the southwest at 5 to 15 mph. The sunset this evening is at 5:19 PM.

Wednesday: A mix of hazy sun and clouds. There is a 40 percent chance of a few showers. Warm again with a high in the lower 60s. Southwest winds will shift from the west at 10 to 20 mph.

Thursday: There is a 50 percent chance of occasional showers. Otherwise, cooler and damp with a high in the upper 40s.

Friday: Mostly sunny and pleasantly cool. High in the upper 40s.
