Bears Invade Scranton Area TV "Backyard" During Forecast

During Monday night's newscast on Scranton's WNEP-TV, four bears (mama bear and three cubs) decided to wander into the "backyard" set at the television station before forecaster Kurt Aaron was to deliver the weather forecast. The four bears hung out for a little while before one of them set off a security alarm, which sent the bears scurrying along out of site of the cameras for the most part. Aaron ended up staying inside during his rather abbreviated forecast, delivering play-by-play and commentary of the bear invasion.

Bears are pretty common in Northeastern Pennsylvania and the television studio is located outside of the core cities of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, right off of I-81 near PNC Field and Montage Mountain in Moosic.
