Weather Rewind: May 6-12, 2012
Temperatures last week averaged out to 0.9 degrees above average -- a rather typical week of weather on the whole for early and middle portions of May. Marine layers, slower moving fronts, rounds of showers followed by a couple of days of sun and warming temperatures made the week pretty much par for the course. Temperatures topped 80 on Saturday after spending the rest of the week straddling the upper 60's and lower 70's, with evening lows generally in the 50's each day. Nothing too unusual for this time of the year.
Rainfall was decent last week -- totaling 0.59" in Philadelphia between Tuesday and very early Thursday, with some places picking up over an inch of rain from this event. Rainfall departures, which were a sore spot of sorts earlier in Spring as we were running close to 50% of yearly totals to that point, are a bit more in line with reality thanks to recent rains. Rainfall is generally a little below average since April 1 but within an inch, perhaps two of normal for the last six weeks. We still have a little work to do to get back to "normal"...and this week will provide that work as another slower moving front brings another shot of rain to the region.
