Forecast for Monday, June 4, 2012

The story will likely be the same everyday. A mostly sunny start, then puffy cumulus will develop. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible everyday during the upcoming week as an area of low pressure and a cold pool aloft meanders across New England and the northern Mid-Atlantic. These showers and thunderstorms will most likely develop each afternoon and evening, once morning sunshine builds up some instability. Any shower or thunderstorm this week could contain hail and gusty winds. On some days, the threat may be greater than others as hard to time out troughs and impulses will move through. These storms will also be capable of locally heavy rainfall at times.

We will be starting June with below normal temperatures. Philadelphia may struggle to hit 70 degrees during the upcoming week on several occasions.

High pressure may take awhile to move in, perhaps not until the second half of the weekend. Otherwise, if you are prone to tidal flooding, be prepared for some issues as the week continues.
