Weather Rewind: June 10th-16th, 2012

Temperatures last week averaged a degree above normal for the middle portions of June -- and you can thank the 94 degree high a week ago today for all of that and some additional.  Last Sunday's 94 degree high was the warmest in Philadelphia so far this summer (that may change by week's end) and its eight degree departure from normal pretty much made the week a statistically mild one despite the last five days all features normal or below normal temperatures.

Rain on Tuesday -- nearly an inch locally, as much as four inches in parts of South Jersey -- transitioned our region from a warmer regime to a very nice and "seasonable" last half of the week.  While temperatures will officially below average for the last half of the week, getting days like Friday and Saturday in summer are never a bad thing!

Nationally so far in June, the Mid Atlantic, East Coast, and Pacific Northwest all have been running below average on temperatures through the course of the month so far -- in the Pacific Northwest it's been by as much as six degrees from where June should be as a persistent trough has set up shop over them.  The warmth has been confined to the Plains and Upper Midwest, with the warmest of the warm over the High Plains of Nebraska, Colorado, and Kansas so far.   The heat will shift east this week though!
