Updating Into The Evening

After scattered areas of thunderstorms around our region earlier today, most of the thunderstorm activity around the Mid Atlantic this afternoon is to our west in Central Pennsylvania.  While there is no organized severe thunderstorm watch, some of these storms are locally severe and producing damaging wind and some hail.   There is some question how long they'll linger into the evening as they slowly push east and northeast -- higher resolution modeling suggests the thunderstorm activity between Baltimore and York may survive and pass overhead around or just after Midnight tonight.  The rest of the thunderstorm activity to our west and northwest over Central Pennsylvania will miss us and pass farther northeast.

Even if thunderstorms weaken a bit this evening and overnight, the potential for localized downpours and some heavy rain can't be ruled out, as well as gusty winds.  We should see storm chances dwindle over the next few hours as daytime heating fizzles with sunset now behind us.
