Recapping First Half of September

Yesterday marked the end of the first half of September, with an average monthly temperature of 73.6 degrees.  That's 1.6 degrees above average for the month, reflective of a warm first week and a seasonably cool second week of the month around here.

The high of the month was on the 1st -- 91 degrees -- and at this point it may end up being the year's last 90 degree day given the current trend in computer modeling.  We also had highs of 88 and 89 locally this month back on the 7th and 8th in advance of the first Fall Squall the afternoon of the 8th.

Rainfall this month has been bountiful in the city -- 4.01" in the first half of the month, over two inches above average.  Rainfall has been much closer to average farther north and northwest -- Allentown, Trenton, and Mount Pocono are running slight rainfall deficits for the month.   Almost all of the rain so far this month fell early on thanks to the interaction of Isaac's remnant moisture with a stalled front near our region.
