Some Showers & Storms Late Today

We're off to a mild start around the region with temperatures in the 60's in a number of places west of the city, 50's in New Jersey away from the coastline (where skies have been more clear overnight).   Some clouds are around and account for the milder temperatures west of town early this morning and for today, a mix of clouds and sun will be expected.  There will be generally sunnier periods (midday and early this afternoon) outside of those cloudy moments....or, later today, those showery and stormy moments.

A cold front that is out across Western Pennsylvania will slowly cross the state today, with showers and storms firing up later this afternoon in a broken line to our west.  A few storms (or squalls in the line) may approach or reach severe limits or become severe later on.  The setup is not the most impressive but with a fair bit of sun and atmospheric moisture around we could see a few warnings issued late this afternoon and this evening.  We'll have more on timing and specifics later on this morning but the timing for Philly looks to be after 7 PM.

Highs today reach the lower 80's this afternoon for many locations.  With southerly breezes gusting to 20 mph, moisture will be on the increase and it will feel a bit humid later on today.  This is a one day fling of summer before the front reintroduces the feel of Fall to our region tomorrow.
