Revisiting September 2012

September 2012 closes out on a relatively normal note -- temperatures for the month were the coolest we've seen in September since 2009 although for the note we finished 1.2 degrees above average in the temperature department. Our average monthly temperature was 70.3 degrees at the Airport and was in line with most of the region's climate sites, which were generally about a degree or a degree and a half above average.  We did have one 90 degree day -- on the 1st -- and arguably it is our last 90 degree day of the year.   September did end up being our coolest month to average since June but we continue our streak of above average months (now at 13) locally.

Rainfall was a shade above average across much of the region, with a few exceptions.  Philadelphia picked up 5.48" of rain for the month, 1.70" above average.   Mount Pocono picked up over eight and a half inches of rain.  On the flip side, Southern Delaware was drier than average again (just under three inches of rain in Sussex County, about an inch and a third below average).  Most places fell in the four to five inch rainfall department for the month.
