A Mild Storm Late Next Week

Outside of perhaps a few stray flurries on Saturday night into Sunday, the balance of the next seven days around here will feature quiet weather. As we work into and through next week, the colder look that's over us relaxes and temperatures will gradually moderate, if not warm up outright by the time we get to Wednesday, Thursday, and perhaps Friday. This is all in advance of a slower-moving storm system (modeled below on the Euro) that would move towards us next Thursday or Friday.

The system will track through the Lakes, which is a warm track and a rain track for us in Philadelphia.  As of now, this storm doesn't look particularly robust and should only produce a period of showers as it moves through.

The one thing the milder pattern will provide in advance of this storm system is a temperature run towards or above 50 degrees next week.  Modeling is hinting at the potential for a pretty mild Thursday if everything breaks right, with at least 50 degrees in Philadelphia for a high, perhaps higher.  It may be even milder after this storm -- that's still to be determined -- but signs point strongly towards the "cold" over us to be in full retreat for a while.
