Here Comes the Arctic Blast!

Get ready for an arctic blast!  The bitter cold is coming, the likes we have not seen in quite some time.  In fact, this week overall will probably be the coldest since back in January of 2011.

Temperatures this morning are not too bad as we have a southwest flow out ahead of a cold front, that has kept temperatures up overnight.  Areas in the city and points south and east as of 7am are in the lower 40's, whereas northern areas are in the upper 30's.  We'll see the highs for the day come early on as the cold front or better an arctic front, will be moving through the region through the late morning and early afternoon hours.  Temperatures will gradually fall through the afternoon hours.

While there is a light breeze this morning, winds will really kick up after the frontal passage.  Winds will turn to the Northwest and increase to 20-25 mph with gusts into the 30's.  The strong winds won't last but for a few hours as by evening, they will begin to die down.  This is a dry front, so there will not be any precipitation with it as it passes, nor even a lot of clouds.

Its going to be a very cold next few days, with Tuesday and Wednesday being the coldest as highs will only be in the 20's and likely the teens up in the Poconos.  It's our coldest weather of the winter coming in -- dress appropriately and in layers on the coldest of days in order to keep warm if you're going to be out.
