Quiet Start To 2013

It's going to be a relatively quiet New Years Day around the region.  A weak system will pass to the south of the region and perhaps spread a few sprinkles or flurries to the south of DC and the state of Delaware.  Also, a trough will be pushing southeast through Pennsylvania during the day, reinforcing the cold regime over the Eastern US.  This trough may also come with a few flurries or sprinkles associated with it as it passes through the region.

Besides these two features, skies generally remain mostly cloudy through the day and temperatures will remain pretty close to normal for this time of the year.  Highs will be around or just above 40 degrees with west breezes around 10 mph.  Colder temperatures will work in starting tomorrow.
