Forecast for Monday, February 4, 2013

A weak piece of energy moving through this evening and some lake effect snow activity could produce some scattered snow showers or snow flurries. Otherwise it will be a partly to mostly cloudy night. Sun to clouds is expected for Monday with blustery conditions.

Another clipper is expected on Monday Evening into early on Tuesday and this is expected to produce another round of light accumulating snowfall. A widespread coating to two or three inches of snowfall again appears to be likely, despite limited moisture, due to snowfall ratios of 15:1 or 20:1. A localized heavier band of snow cannot be ruled out.

The next clipper system arrives late on Tuesday Night and will continue through early on Wednesday Morning, perhaps impacting the Wednesday Morning commute. Snow showers can be expected with another quick, light accumulation of snow. Snow ratios appears to be lower for this event.

There is still a fair amount of disagreement with regards to the track of another system for Thursday Night into Friday. The column may initially be cold enough for mostly snow and then a transition to a rain and sleet mix is expected, followed by all rain. This looks like a weak system at this moment...but this may change as the system gets closer to our region and the models get a better handle on the overall pattern.
