Thankfully, the prospect of sleet and snow is nil as the storm system responsible for yesterday's mess of an evening commute will be pulling away from the region through the course of the morning hours. A few showers are possible this morning around the region, especially north and northeast of Philadelphia. However, skies will transition away from cloudy to sunny for a bit before cold air clouds begin to stream in from the west later on today.
That period of sun, which may occur towards midday, may be enough to boost temperatures briefly into the lower 50's in Philadelphia, with 50-55 likely south and mid and upper 40's to the north. Winds will gradually pick up from the west, increasing to between 12 and 20 mph with higher gusts from midday on. These winds will add a bit of chill to the air and help to start knock temperatures back late in the afternoon to our north and northwest. Those chilled winds will work in tonight, with a cold midweek by March standards ahead.
