Weather Rewind: March 24-30, 2013

Temperatures averaged 4.4 degrees below average last week, continuing our cold theme that has permeated much of March.  We had a day where the high didn't crack 40 this late in March for the first time since 2004 -- picked up 1.1" of snow that same day (Monday) in the city, with some of the suburban areas picking up as much as four inches of snow.   The rest of the week was chilled by March standards but not as cold as what we dealt with on Monday.

At least Friday and Saturday, with relatively normal temperatures, made the end of the week respectable from a temperature standpoint.  Saturday's high of 59 was the warmest since March 11th's 60 degree high.

Rainfall (and melted snow) totaled 0.46" in Philadelphia last week -- including that 1.1" of snow on Monday.  We also ended up with scattered, passing showers on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons in the region.

Nationally, we continue to see cold across parts of the South and Southern Plains -- last week's temperatures averaged over ten degrees below average from the Carolinas west through Kansas, from Louisiana north to North Dakota.
