Wintry Mix to Rain

Some light precip in the form of snow has moved into southern portions of our region, in Delaware and Northeast Maryland.  The atmosphere is very dry to start, so some of this may not even be hitting the ground.  The freezing line as of 7am is over Wilmington, DE to Millville, NJ.  Coastal areas are already well above freezing.  Its currently 31 in the city and in the mid to upper 20's north and west.

The precip will slowly move north through the area during the morning hours.  It may start as some light snow or sleet in the city and immediate suburbs, but it will quickly change over to rain by noontime.  Further north and west, winter weather advisories are out for some counties and there, the snow and sleet will last longer before the changeover occurs.

While the precipitation will remain fairly light for a good part of the day, by evening, heavier and more steady rain will move in and it will be a soaker tonight and during the overnight hours.

Winds out of the East and East-Southeast will warm temperatures into the upper 30's to lower 40's by evening.  Things dry out for tomorrow with warmer temperatures.  But it will not last.  Winter returns on Wednesday and it will be cold for several days going into the weekend.
