Mild, Perhaps A Thundery End

A cool front is sliding on south from the north but should remain to the north of Philadelphia through the day today.  Ahead of the front will be skies that start cloudy, trend sunny for a time later today, and then feature some increasing high clouds late in the afternoon or this evening ahead of the front.  We'll call it variably cloudy although for a few hours we could easily see mostly sunny out there.

The front will approach the region this evening, with a chance of showers and perhaps some thunderstorms for areas north and west of the city this evening.  Outside of that, the vast majority of the day and the region should be dry.

Once sunshine takes over, temperatures will warm in response and we should see highs this afternoon in the lower 70's in much of the region, perhaps mid 70's if sunshine breaks out fast enough and skies are brighter for a longer chunk of the day.  The only cool spots will be at the Shore, which will be in the 60's for the most part.  Winds will be south to southwest, with the Shore getting a more southerly wind off of the water.
